Gecko

There was a baby gecko in my hot chocolate. No kidding. And the craziest thing is that I have no idea how long he held his breath, because (as you've seen) when Trey travels for work, I tend to be less than fastidious about things like dishes, and this cocoa had been out for quite a while. The poor little guy probably slipped while he was chasing a bug, fell into the drink, and hung out holding his breath, wondering what to do next. I've heard that roaches and millipedes can hold their breath long enough to crawl back up after you flush them down the toilet. Wonder how long a gecko can last.

He's a little dazed and slow, but perking up.

Oh, the things you get to read when Trey travels!

  5. Jess, I thought of your caffine-happy dog!

Happily, my little gecko scooted off eventually, and while I've seen several baby geckos in the kitchen since, I haven't found any that met an untimely demise, so I think he's off to get some big bugs! :)
