This afternoon, I so wished I had a video camera charged! Hans found one of the boards that I use for painting, and he looked up at one of my paintings, looked down at the board in his hand and said, "Mommy, I want some co-lors." He went and got a fat purple crayon, set the board up on Annika's highchair footrest, and went to town! He drew some lines, some big arching ovals and a little box-shape. Then he stepped back and said, "I drew some ropes, and some ropes, and a lunch box for the climbers." Sure enough, there they were!

I needed to get Annika her lunch, so I sent him over to his easel where Trey had drawn him a picture of us by our house on an island, and Trey in an airplane, and Guam across the ocean. Hans started to draw again, and I scurried off to lunch-prep, when he called out, "Look Mommy, I made mountains!" I don't know if Trey or someone at church showed him how, but he drew some great mountains!
And it just got better from there. He started putting dots around the page, saying "This is Kailua. This is Honolulu. This is the hotel in Waikiki. This is the road to Cody's house (his friend's). This is Kaimake Loop..." on and on. He had our whole island mapped out!
Such fun!
Annika's been a lot of fun, too. As well as eliciting smiles, oohs and aahs everywhere she goes, she had started to wave and say "Bye!" to anyone (or any car, dog, you-name-it) she sees. And she has just started using so many words. One day she said "tur-tle", and it just started to flow. "Baby," "frow-u" (flower), "ummy" for food... I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting. The funny thing is, she's beginning to substitute "ummy" for "mummy". Maybe I'm more likely to respond to that!? :)
OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH my gosh! i cannot get over the little cuties! especially ANNIKA! what a doll and so beautiful, she is stunning... and that little headband - super cute!!
