Honolulu Century

This weekend Trey and Hans rode in the biggest bike race I've ever seen!

It started at the crack of dawn (the stars were out), and the kids and I were pretty bleary-eyed. But Trey was ready to roll,

...along with countless Japanese tourists! The race was actually sponsored in part by Japan Air Lines, and the announcements were made in both English and Japanese.

There was even a unicycle rider (though this was the last time I saw him, and I followed the race pretty closely. Hope he at least made it to the 25-mile turn-around)!
There was some beautiful scenery, along with fantastic views, and killer hills!

This is the other side of the killer hill.
Cruisin' at sea level again in Waimanalo.
We're proud of our boys!!!
Hans sporting the 50-mile mark sticker on his little helmet. Talk about playground bragging rights!

  3. Actually, at the 50-mile turn-around (25 miles from the start), Trey and I went to get some pasta at Zia's Cafe, and then we all took naps:)
