foodie

So, many of you have heard me wail and complain about Hans' picky eating, and tonight as I was making a quick snack of a chicken quesadilla with tomatoes, cilantro, fresh-ground chipotle peppers, ....you get the idea... anyhow it occurred to me that maybe Hans is just a little foodie!

And then I thought, wait. Maybe more of as tend toward foodiness than we know! Read on. You may see a little of yourself  here. And a little of me. And I love it!

You know you're a foodie if:

you make a quessadilla on a paper plate to nuke it to save time and you just can't do it. It'll turn all rubbery! So you heat up out the skillet. yum

you bring homemade hummus to the bring-something-easy-so-we-don't-work-too-hard- potluck

your kid turns up his nose ar ranch dressing and downs hummus by the spoonful

your 2-yr. old prefers miso soup and sushi to Spaghetti-O's

you kid eats snails, in China, and likes 'em

you've debated which of the white shrimp trucks has the best garlic shrimp, and you drove all the way to the North Shore to get some

your blog has photos of cantaloupe (or broccoli, or coffee)

you and your friend have a tomato growing contest and you just know you're gonna dominate

you've ever made your own bread

you ask for a standing mixer for Christmas, and you get it. And you're stoked

So, how do you know if you're a foodie?

  2. Wikipedia says: "Foodie is an informal term for a particular class of aficionado of food and drink." Not a gourmet really... an "amateur" they say. And probably more hard-core than I describe, but a fun word anyway!

I think that Annika is not too snobby. She just loves to eat. By the way, they both have been devouring broccoli lately! With fresh-ground Mediterranean sea salt, of course. And a lot of drama over how wonderful it is. Annika thinks it's a flower and tries to put it behind her ear. Whatever it takes!!

  3. So funny! Especially picturing Annika with broccoli at her ear!! Food does will as a creative outlet sometimes. Today's can of beanless chile combined nicely with white kidney beans, cut up leftover bbq chicken, onion, garlic, and chili powder:)
    Keep up the good drama!
