He Is Risen!

He is risen indeed!

The joys and newness of Easter seem so much more fresh and tangible with little ones. Hans and Annika went searching for and discovering colored eggs in the same way Mary searched for and discovered Christ the first Easter.

We dyed eggs together in the centuries-old tradition, and hung the red ones outside on ribbons according to Czech tradition, to remember the blood of Christ. What was really interesting to me, though, was how by Easter the rains had washed away the red, in the same way Christ was redeemed and washes our sinfulness away so we are "white as snow".

Easter morning, Hans was so excited! We made a little trail of eggs to guide him to his basket, "like looking for Jesus".

Later we had a little egg-hunt in our yard...

and invited some friends, including sweet Kana who got a kick out of finding the eggs and then sitting down immediately to open them up and eat up all his jelly-beans!

He eventually got the eggs in the basket, but whether or not there was anything inside... maybe he was reminding us that the tomb is empty?!
